HONOLULU — The Honolulu Fire Department has canceled plans to look for overdue pig hunters in the Halawa Valley after the group found its way out safely.

Fire Capt. David Jenkins says no injuries were reported among the overdue party, which emerged from the valley around 4 a.m. Thursday.

Honolulu news station Hawaii News Now reports a 27-year-old man, 17- and 13-year-old boys and a 7-year-old girl went into the valley with several dogs Wednesday morning. The group was joined by another man, who left at about 11 a.m. Wednesday to go to work.

The group was reported missing after they didn’t return by 1 a.m. Thursday.

Fire department officials say a search had been planned to begin at first light Thursday morning.
